Directory Enquiries

118810 (Cable & Wireless Service)

Polaris recommends clients to use - 118810 - for directory enquiries.  The cost of a single call is fixed at 35 pence.  This compares to BT's 118500, where the call costs 49 pence + 24 pence per minute talk time.   The price for 118118 (The Number) is 59 pence for the call + 14 pence per minute talk time.

New Lines, Service Care Levels and Feature Services

Polaris can install new phone lines - analogue; ISDN2; or ISDN30.  Details about Broadband connection and services can be found using the link at the foot of this page.

All of the normal services you associate with BT, or your existing service provider, are available through Polaris Telecoms.  Service Care Levels are available as follows:

  • Level 1 - equivalent to the BT standard next day business level service
  • Level 2 - response within 8 working hours, including a divert number facility
  • Level 3 - response within 4 working hours, including a divert number facility
All other services are available at discounted rates, such as:
  • Call Minder
  • Call Barring
  • Caller Line Identification - etc.
Non-Geographic Numbers (NGN)

0800;     0844;     0845;     0870;     0900;         Premium Rate

Non-Geographic Numbers offer various advantages to organisations:
  • Freephone numbers encourage callers to contact businesses, knowing the call will cost them nothing
  • One central number can cover an entire national branch network, perhaps allowing a call-centre to interface with the caller and then distribute the call accordingly
  • Some numbers offer revenue sharing opportunities; other numbers provide a fixed cost of connection to the caller
  • Premium rate numbers can be set up to provide streams of revenue generating services
